Chenonceau, art in the gardens

"Artists have always been at home at Chenonceau, and for over 25 years contemporary painters and sculptors have become habitués… Since 1979, the birth of this great encounter with the art of the 20th and 21st centuries, Jean-Louis and Laure Menier have made bold and loving choices, from Brasilier to Barcelo, Fassianos to Lalanne, Schnable to Zao-Wou-Ki, one prestige exhibition has followed another. This is a great achievement which opens the gates of artistic expression to tourists from all over the world, types of expression that they would perhaps never dared to approach if Chenonceau had not given them the opportunity.
Here is pure patronage of the arts. It is a project consisting of commissions, encouragement, welcome …and generosity and intelligence.
Undeniably, this is a château like none other."

Armelle Héliot Le Figaro - Culture (Oct. 2005)
